Irish Rail Fine - not in country

    Just received letters from Irish Rail saying I was caught without a ticket in February when I wasn't in the country for the last year I'm been threat with a court and its final demands letters. What should I do?

    Send a letter in reply, telling them what you have told us. Obviously some gobsh!te who was caught without a ticket gave your name and address, but Irish Rail can't be expected to know this unless you tell them.

    You'll have to clear it up quickly before they start to go legal with it.

    Also, if you're fast you might be able to request CCTV footage and find out who is posing as you...

    I wouldn't let this worry you. If genuine, which I assume you are, then simply write a letter to them (and keep a record for yourself) explaining that you were not in country at this time and that you believe your details have been given falsely. Let them know that you're willing to provide proof, such as tickets etc, showing that you were not in the country at the time it took place. Simples! :)
