Hi. My heart rate failed to register on my Garmin a few days ago after being ok the day before. I changed the batteries twice but still no luck. So I had a brand new unused one and I tried that tonight but that didn't work either. Then when out on a spin tonight a mate of mine joined up with me on the spin and his heart rate came up immediately on my Garmin. I'm confued as to what options I have now.

Any help from the experts here would be great

I have same problem. My heart rate monitor was working on Saturday. Went out Sunday, it wasn't working. I changed battery, still not working. I tried another battery, put it in upside down first, then correctly, still nothing. I went out for a spin today, met a group of cyclists, my Garmin pings and a notice is displayed, which says "multiple sensors detected".

How old are the HRMs? They may have just packed up.

Try turning off the sensor mode on the garmin unit itself. Put strap on and go outside, turn sensor mode on and start the garmin as if for a normal ride. Scan for sensor if needed.

I have had the same problem a few times and it seemed that It would not pair if the gps was still looking for location (which it could not do indoors).

(also try inverting the battery, but if you are having a problem with both straps this is not the cause)

How weird is that. Exactly the same issue for me on the same days too. Have tried re pairing the ant with the unit tonight but the h/r icon continues to flash which means it is not paired.

Only thing I can think of is the batteries I uses were duds

First one is maybe 3 years old but the other one was never used since I bought the unit a year ago

PS. I saw on the Garmin website to select rescan if necessary but I couldn't find that option on the unit itself

Thanks Ill try that in the morning.
My HRM is over 4 years old.
I'll also try my HRM with a mate's strap.

If I remember correctly you actually have to turn off the H/R option on the garmin and turn it on again, it will give you the option to scan for sensor.

Sorted at last. Older h/r unit died and replacement batteries were duds. All up and running now thanks.
