I am having a problem with my laptop. Basically it keeps freezing when windows is loading. I then get prompted to the start up repair but then the repairs pop up box never appears to run that either just a grey screen.
I don't think anything was installed or uninstalled on it lately either.
    Any advice?

Have you a Window disc. You might need to run a repair from that as there may a corruption in the boot manager

    I don't I'm afraid. :(
Left it at the startup repair for an hour but nothing happened. Even when I try run in safe mode it just boots back to the black startup screen seen above.
I'll probably have to bring it in for repairs but it's out of warranty too

I've seen dodgy RAM sometimes cause similar issues. Try taking out a stick and then boot up. If the same problem replace stick and remove the other. A long shot but worth trying anyway.

In my experience this is the most common cause for what the OP describes.

I've had it looked at since & was told it was an error in the hard drive which needs replacing that's causing it to loop back to the startup repair like that.

The way to check is to swap the disk out. You can get USB adaptors to allow you to plug it into another computer. I’ve also seen this happen, but much rarer than RAM going.

Hi I just got this image on my laptop, it's a pretty slow laptop a good 7 years old, been trying to remove programmes etc to speed it up and just wanna take some pics and docs to my new laptop, any ideas what this is. It also said a crash dump was occurring - PXE-e61 media test failure check cable... It also says pxe- m0f exiting broadcom pxe- rom

Rest the BIOS defaults first as it may be a problem there. Make sure to check that the Hard Disk is set as the first boot device. There may be fault with the the HDD or recovery partition on the HDD. Otherwise check this
