4wd engaging while braking on Massey 4245

    Hi folks,
We recently purchased a 2001 MF 4245 4wd. I find it really annoying that it engages the 4wd every time you press the brakes particularly when using the loader in a tight space as it will not disengage until you drive in a straight line.

I tried removing the brake light fuse but it still does it. Is there another "handy" way of disabling this? e.g. removing the wire from the 4wd soleniod but I don't know where it is.

I appreciate that the 4 wheel braking is great when pulling a load but when turning in tight spaces it really puts pressure on the clutch and tyres and it's difficult to avoid pressing the brakes.

    Thanks.

If it's the same as 300 series, disconnecting the solinoide will actually turn on 4wd permanently. You need to add a switch to apply power to solenoid to turn off. However if you have an accident on the road with "a fitted safety feature" turned off it may affect your insurance.

Solenoid on 300 series is on top off transfer box output, not sure about your tractor but suspect it is similar.
