    Hi,

I'm on the lookout for an old classic 911.

If anyone has ever owned one of these would they mind giving me the low down on what models to avoid and what models i should be on the look out for, along with any points to consider or look our for when buying one. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Try here too: http://forum.porsche-club-ireland.com/

And I recommend this man highly for classic 911 related work: occasionally has a car for sale too, based in Clare, Jon Miller : http://www.classiccarreras.com/

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Hi , they are great cars if you get a good one .Timeless looks , plenty of power and good fuel economy.
If you have not already driven one I would strongly suggest you do before buying as they are not a car where everything falls into place as soon as you sit in.
It will depend on you budget but the pre 1984 SCs and older models are probably the easiest to work on .Some blue smoke is normal when started but this should clear . Check the gear change especially when changing from 3rd to 2nd and difficulty here could be syncro rings which can be expensive to repair.
Rust around the bottom of the windscreen is common and have a good look underneath for crash damage and more rust . Oil leaks are common enough too and some can be very awkward to repair so you may have to live with them for a while. I wouldn`t get overly concerned about mileage as most will have well over 100k by now .
All parts are readily available and most are reasonably priced ,
    Good Luck !
