UPC not available -> considering eVision

    Hi,

I'm at a loss at the moment re a new service provider for TV and broadband.

The easy bit is that (even though I live in Dublin) UPC can't provide the services so that's one option eliminated.

Thereafter I am thinking either Sky (very expensive and not overly keen on a dish) or Eircom's eVision.

I will want both basic TV and unlimited broadband. I might consider an "Android box" for some additional options later on, but any help on what to chose would be great - thanks!

I have found eVision to be very unreliable. Picture frequently freezes which can occur at any time and is , to put it mildly, desperately annoying. eVision don't have a reliable solution

Thanks for that, so really the only option after ruling out eVision is Sky?

No, I use Freesat which uses the same satellite but is FTA. You will get all the UK TV which you can select the region you want by inputting a post code. I use London (W1A 1AA which is BBC Broadcasting House or SW1A 1AA which is Buck House) or you can use BT1 1AA which is the Royal Mail Sorting Office in Belfast) but any UK post code will work. You could use a combi but that has advantages and disadvantages.

Irish TV comes in on Saorview which should be easy to get. In the Bedroom, I get 100% signal and quality on a specially bent piece of coat hanger, but a log periodic gives me full signal combined with the sat signal down each feed.

    Having no bills is great.

    |I don't have any problems with the service, but I use an ethernet connection from stb back to router. I wouldn't trust home plugs as much (if that is what you are using)

Great, thanks for the guidance. Buyer beware it seems!
