Looking for a car on good/cheap finance

    Hi all,

Looking for some advice, I'm in the market for a new diesel car, my budget would be up to 13000..

I seen the Dacia Sandero Stepway which I have attached below at a good price and suits me with price structure they have and the size of car looks perfect for me.

But I've noticed on a boards discussion that Dacia aren't a particular great car with a lot saying u get what you pay for e.g. poor safety record and cheap feel to it etc

Does anyone know something similar along these lines on a low interest rate? Id raise the budget a bit if it meant me getting a much better motor in the long run..

    Any advice appreciated

Looking around myself and while Dacia are tempting on price there are a number of things putting me off:

    - safety ratings (especially given it will be a family car)
    - Engine, same as renault engine as far as I am aware (not a fan of italian/french parts/cars)
    - Short test drive in a bog standard Duster was very under whelming

However, unless you want ultra compact there is very little else for the price brand new.

Hi, i bought a Dacia Logan in January this year. 1.5 diesel. I went for the top spec model which cost 16,400.
Im saving 25euro per week on fuel, and over 300euro per year on tax.(had a 06 primera) im makin money!
The interior is lovely in my opinion. The basic model is 11500 ish but no alloys, aircon or cruise control. Also the interior is a bit crap!
The Logan is prob too big for u but u should defo go hav a look at the stepway. Im very happy wit my Dacia

The engine is the same that is in Nissans?

The stigma of italian/french cars is long gone - each engine nowadays has merits etc. to it.

How are you making money when you just spent 16,400? :)

OK, so you do have a new car but at that rate you are saving €1600 a year, so you will be all paid back in exactly 10.25 years, will you still have the Dacia??

Plus I have ignored trade in value on the Primera so it will be a bit sooner

I do believe you were being sarcastic though

My understanding is that the Dacias get good after ratings, but the stars are knocked off for a) not having an audible warning for something turned off and b) not having ESP as standard, but it is an option in some pack. I believe the cars to be safe.

I also would not have any issue with the engines provided. They are the same as in modern Renaults, and I would trust them more than some of the engines found in other makes over the last few years TBH.

The basic Irish car is not really that basic, compared to the UK ones.
I would go for the mid range spec to get aircon/cruise etc with either the 0.9 or 1.5 diesel depending on usage style.
