Corolla or Auris?

We are in the process of changing my better half's car, she travels 100 km a day so probably going for a diesel model. Am I correct in saying 100 km justifies going for a diesel. Herself is keen on getting a Toyota. (I drive a 98 corolla and its so reliable.) We are undecided as to get a 2013 Auris or 2013 Corolla. Can anyone help with the pros and cons of each? We are looking for a low maintenance reliable car, aren't we all I hear ye say. I am in the Corolla camp but understand that they are not as straightforward as the older ones. Hope someone can help, we know very little about cars. Thanks.

Same petrol and diesel engines in both but the Auris also comes with the option of a hybrid engine. Internal looks are different, I would prefer the Auris out of the two, not a fan of the exterior styling on the Corolla.

2013 could be either new or oka model. The newer one is far superior, but the 1.4 D-4D is a bit slow. Will still be nippier than your 2.0D though.

In terms of reliability are they both the same? Are they both of similar spec or is there more to go wrong in the Auris. Having driven a Corolla for years, its simplicity and lack of frills is what makes it so reliable for me. I have no idea as to whether the newer models are the same.

The current Corolla and Auris are mechanically identical bar cosmetic bits. The Auris is built in the UK and the Corolla is built in Turkey.

Have seen a 2015 corolla terra 1.4 d4d diesel that we are mulling over, happy with the deal but waiting to test drive it. Neither of us have any great knowledge of cars, what is the verdict on this model? Have read elsewhere that they are not fast but thats not really an issue with us. Any other negatives that we need to be aware of. I am hoping the positives will outweigh these.:)

Have you considered a Nissan Leaf? It would be ideal for that commute, very reliable & very cheap to run & own vs diesel.

Car could be an ex rental
Terra spec has no aircon. In 2015

Terra is a horrible basic spec. You can do better, get at least the Aura if not Luna spec.
