new diesel tank /pump

    Hi, old green diesel tank on way out, need new - it'll be under cover, is bunded really necessary?..old system had no filters or pump, all ok with the quality of diesel so far, what extras should i fit? Tank is set fairly high so gravity is ok to fill the tractor so far....Are filters a good idea with the lo sulphur diesel? Anything else to consider? Some used tank on donedeal , half the price, would they be ok or go for new? TIA

    Go for new if possible. The plastic tanks aren't very reliable. Had one here outside for kerosene and cracked badly around the upper half after 5 yrs. Suss out length of warranty on new tanks. Only thing with buying a new tank is the warranty will only stand if the tank is fitted on an approved base usually a flat concrete plinth. Filters for water and dirt a good investment as sludge in tanks is becoming a major problem. Flow will be slower with filters so pump or larger pipe might be an option. Don't get a huge tank if you cant empty it within 9months aslength of time between refilling tank has effect on sludge in tank.
