TV License

Just wondering if I have to pay a TV license. I have a smart TV but no sky or saorview I watch blurays, Netflix and play ps3/4. I never watch tv so I can't see why I should pay. There is a dish and an aerial on the house but not used and where here when we got the house

Apologies if this is a persistent question but I couldn't find a specific similarity to my situation

If you have a TV you are meant to have a license regardless of what you use it for. It's annoying but it's the law at the moment.

Short answer YES you have to pay.

You need to purchase a monitor not a TV if you want to avoid paying for a license.

Did you cancel your €9 SKY sub?

OK thanks guys. I have a big TV and full HD setup and have no need for channels but a monitor wouldn't cut it for my need for that cinema feel with full surround sound etc. It's a silly law if I am honest. In the UK if u have a TV but only use it for gaming or media playback u don't have to pay it so I thought we might be the same :(

Yeah I cancelled it because it ran out and I didn't use it. I had all the channels but don't have them anymore(except the free satellite channels but again unused and willing to disconnect) and would be willing to remove all antenna and satellite dishes for an inspector came to check but if I have to pay regardless I won't bother
