    Hi guys,

Just looking for some info into this.

I will be buying some computers from Dell.ie for my business, we have a VAT number. and they have a business section where you can view prices ex. VAT, but you are required to pay VAT costs up front first.

Can I claim back the VAT cost for these products at a later date with my business' VAT number? or not?

    It is a hotel business.

Thanks & apologies for my (possibly) stupid question but I'm very new to this!

If you are registered for VAT and are buying the computers for business use, then yes you are entitled to claim back the VAT provided you obtain a valid VAT invoice from Dell.ie.

Hotel business would be a vatable as opposed to vat exempt business and would therefore allow for the recovery of VAT on business cost. So if you buy them in August and file bi-monthly VAT returns you can reclaim the VAT on the purchase in your July/Aug VAT return.
