    Hi all,

Just wondering about Bodrum in Turkey as a holiday destination? We're looking for a holiday for relaxation and some activities, but not particularly interested in a 'Benidorm' type of holiday. More interested in a place where there are things to do during the day, not mad at night, and also has a nice beach.

Bodrum seems to tick those boxes, but would love some first hand perspective on it. Many thanks

Bodrum is split generally by travel agents into Gumbet and Bitez which is about 5 minutes from bodrum itself. Between both of them for a relaxing holiday bitez is the place to go.

I was looking to go over in September to the WOW bodrum resort, which is a fabulous all inclusive not your usual crap but a proper hotel and well worth the money, its working out at £510 pps, which I highly recommend check for yourself on TripAdvisor.

Bodrum and around is stunning, crystal clear waters etc etc, bitez is compact and family orientates though I would avoid gumbet if at all possible as it is more "resort" and what comes with that.

Activity wise you could easily fit something into everyday with choice, Ephesus in the evening is a must if you're into history, boat trip for the day swimming in Crystal clear waters for an absolute day of relaxation or even the ferry to kos.

Thanks for the comprehensive response that's great! We're looking at the Ambrosia hotel in Bitez for our stay. Works out at about €550 each but that's not all inclusive. Still seems like a great deal though considering we're looking at the 30th August for departure. One thing I want to ask about Turkey in general... Is it safe given the whole ISIS thing going on in that region?

Haven't stayed in the Ambrosia myself but have heard good things from friends, as I said you are on the right side of things staying in bitez anyway, Gumbet is fine for a meal in the evening and a bit of a nose (its only 5 minutes away),some of the hotels give and restaurants give complimentary taxi services from the hotels to restaurants, but after a certain hour its a bit tacky and in your face.

As for ISIS I wouldn't let it put you off at all
