Why does AH allow you to post videos but not pictures?

This is something that I've always found a bit strange. Wouldn't it be more useful if you could link an image or jpg on AH when you are making a point about something, or even just posting a funny meme?

It's a balls having to click into a link to see what a poster is getting at, and it adds up to a lot of time wasted when you take it all into account.

Does anyone else think there should be an image link that posters can use?
Ladies and Gentlemen, you may now duke it out.

Should AH allows images to be linked? 27 votes

Oh yeah, what are you gonna do? Release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?

If AH allowed images it would impact discussion, and turn into yet another Cool Vids and Pics forum.
Thankswhoring would go through the roof, worse than today.

The trolls that live here do more to impact discussion then linking pics could. It's 2015, not being able to post a picture is a touch sad and behind the times.

It would quickly turn into a cross between meme central and the cool pics forum. The whole "discussion" aspect would be lost. Videos are only posted in relation to music for the most part anyway.

They aren't mutually exclusive so the images were removed and we do our best to deal with trolls.

Add in funny cat pictures and AH would be destroyed.

I can see your point with that. The place is a kip with a handful of serial posters though, I can't imagine what it would look like "destroyed".

The usual response to any kind of criticism. I'm far from nailed down here. Seeing as there's a large Irish user base there are reasons to use the site. That doesn't mean it's a great site.

as AH would become like 9gag reddit 4chan and similar sites down into the drain.
And you can still posts links to pics so its note like its completely banned, but i think in some way it prevents those who like facebook and finding other crap online,to put up a picture and say discuss ? -no im wrong its already happened too many times, as many times its leads to useless discussions.

I meant there are other forums on boards to frequent, if you think AH is a kip you could use those or report posts that you think are making the place a kip and help us clean it up

Not sure what your definition of "kip"is given what goes on elsewhere.
AH is full of gibberish. The other Forums are interesting and informative if you're into them.

    Over moderated alright in fairness.

Most users know enough not to directly break rules. They also know that others will be carded by mods for calling them out directly. The least the site could do is add a thumbs down button to demoralise trolls. If brigading was something to worry about then there wouldn't be a thumbs up button.

There are plenty of good forums and many sound posters. Because I'm criticizing doesn't mean I hate the place or anything. It's healthy to look at faults.

Why'd you have to say that? You come out with stink like that. Poop. You poopmouth, with poop out of your mouth!

The mods were worried that I would have a place to post all my nude pics.
I'm still waiting for that rule to get ousted so I can show ye all my curves.

With respect, the level of actual discussion here is minimal. If it isn't someone squeezing in the mandatory Irish Water dig, or some 'hilarious' wit about the government, then it's a Father Ted reference, yore ma, three fiddy, and a whole host of other cringeworthy stale humour that was relevant for about 8 seconds back in the early 90's.

This thread would be more suited to the feedback forum OP.
