Effect of penalty points on insurance

    I know this has been discussed before but does anyone know the current affect of penalty points on insurance premiums. I know it will vary from company to company but the a rule of thumb used to be up.to 4 points and your ok. But that was when it was 2 points for speeding. So by right it should now be 6 or less and your ok. Anyone got any knowledge on this. Thanks

    Not sure of the cut off limit but first 3 points will make no difference from what my insurer told me. I guess if i get 3 more it will get to 6 so will probably get hit with premium hike

    I was just looking at insurance prices and have 3 penalty points. If I add them, my premium increased by 50 euro. This was with AA.
