[DUB] Go through security at T1 for T2 flight

I am going on an EI Regional flight from Dublin soon. Since EI Regional use Pier 3, would it be possible to go through security at T1 even though it says T2 on the boarding passes? It would mean I could avoid the long walk between T2 and Pier 3. I will not be checking in bags.

    Thank you.

    Anyone?

(Perhaps A&A would be a better place for this).

Any time I've done it, it has meant the long walk.
Too much like joined up thinking I suppose.

You should be fine. I've checked in a bag in t2 and been told the shortest way to my gate is the external road to t1

I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

I tried to go through T1 security and was told I couldn't. On the way back, while knowing T1 was the far side of a door, I still had to go back to T2 to exit.

There is no issue with going through security in T2 for a flight departing from T1 (or v.v.) - provided you have no luggage to check in. If someone tells you otherwise they are taking the proverbial.

The different terminal is down to baggage handling and that's it.

For the OP I would say that you probably are as well sticking with T2. EI Regional flights operate from both the 4XX and 3XX gates - probably 50/50. The walk isn't that long in any case.

Arriving is a different matter - passengers have to exit through the terminal which handles your flight.

Are you sure they use Pier 4 anymore? Every time I've looked at an EI Regional flight in the Dublin Airport app its always been a 3xx gate. I checked again for flights that left earlier today they were all 3xx gates. Also I've never seen an ATR at the Pier 4 stands.

I wouldn't assume a Ryanair flight would be at a Pier 1 gate as they often (particularly in the morning) leave from a Pier 2 gate. But EI Regional always seem to go from Pier 3.

Well given I've watched them pushing back from 4XX gates within the last month, yes I am.

It will depend on the time and the day itself, but they use both piers I can assure you of that.

As I said above the walk is not that long from T2 to the 3XX gates - plus you get a nice view of the apron as you go!

Every EI Regional flight yesterday was at a 3xx gate. I will check the app over the next few days and if I don't see any 4xx gates I will go to T1. The worse case scenario is I have to walk to T2 which isn't any longer than walking to Pier 3 from T2. If security queue times at T2 are shorter I'll go there instead.
