I received a tax reminder on thursday to pay tax on a car that i traded into a dealer(small dealer less than 10 cars on sale) in june and the tax expires on it at the end of the month. i then rang the tax office asking why did i get the tax reminder and they said i was still the registered owner of the car. i then contacted the dealer that i traded in the car to and he said that once he sells the car he will then put the new person on the car. but between now and until he sells the car i could get speeding fines if people are speeding in the car when test driving it. i asked him to take my name off the car and he doesnt seem like he is going to do it. is there any way i can force him to take my name off the car that i traded in to him?

He should have done an rf105 transfer to dealer form. I'm guessing he's not a professional and selling cars out of his kitchen.

ya the person from the tax office said that he probably doesnt have a garage code. so would that form be useless for my situation ?

Yep. Needs to have his garage code in it,

any smartarsery like say getting a duplicate reg cert sent out and then putting it into his name and posting it off - might invalidate whatever sort of warranty on the new car that someone like that gives.
