Well most incoming first years don't know yet. It will be within next week or two. Contact them Monday if you haven't got anything in post Monday morning
Quick google and I found this
    Orientation 1st years Monday 31st August - Friday 4th September 2015

Would you not need your leaving results first

LC results haven't been issued yet.

The CAO haven't made offers to potential students yet.

So the names and details of incoming first years aren't known yet.

So clearly it would be impossible for any college to contact incoming 1st years yet.

How do you know you got a place, when CAO offers have not been made yet?

sure. I already have my leaving cert results.... from years ago.
(yes, believe it or not the leaving cert was held many times before 2015)

Well, you're half-right about just one fact. this years LC results haven't been issued yet.

Contrary to the rest of your absolute statements, the CAO have made offers to potential students. Over a month ago. And they've been accepted too. Also over a month ago. So the names and details of a substantial amount of incoming first years are, in fact, known.

So clearly it would be very possible for any college to contact incoming 1st years. at least the ones who have accepted their offers over a month ago.

I know I have a place because, as I've stated, I have received and accepted an offer from NUIG.

Let me just blow your tiny little minds with two words:

    Mature Student.

I'm sure you're smart enough to figure the rest out from here.

    cheers!

Maybe if you were as smart then as you are now with your ignorant answers to people who are just trying to help you you could be finished college long ago,

And another thing Mr/Ms high and mighty there was no mention of a mature student in your first post so put your tiny little mind around that.

Dont worry I am sure the powers that be will drop everything to find time for such a smart person as yourself.

It would also - clearly - be very possible for any college not to contact incoming first years until the college had in its possession a comprehensive list of all incoming first years.

Accordingly, the university has what's known as a choice - one which NUIG would appear to have exercised in a manner that would cause you to have to wait for contact from the university until a later date.

I trust this was helpful to you.

It is very helpful, Captain Obvious.

However I never waded in here waving absolute statements, that were in fact ill-conceived if not outright wrong.

So pardon me if in the process of highlighting these erroneous presumptions I have somehow confused you, and given you cause to state the obvious.

    Begging your pardon.

Also, on the topic of presumption, Lulu - I already have a degree.
And yet I'm still going back to Uni ? Wrap your tiny head around that : )

You might have a degree but you are downright ignorant and no degree will cure that.

Over and out remind me to say hello when I meet you on your way down

    degree yea yea yea

It's the most logical answer, which a more sensible person would have picked up on before asking on the internet; and having made that error of judgement you didn't need to compound it by being so ill-mannered with people who were trying to assist you.

Well done on going to college for the second time. Mind you, judging from your contributions to this thread, I can only assume that the university system here uses a strictly age-based definition of the term "mature".

    ..I can only assume..

And sure why not, seems to be the running theme of the thread : )

Butting in here seeing as i saw the thread on the main page, but i'm in the same boat, would the academic dates in the link up above apply to those who are going into 1st year through an Access Course, I accepted an offer through the CAO early last month, but haven't got anything yet about registration forms, those around me are telling me to relax seeing as i've accepted the course through CAO, that i am as good as in, but i've got that little nagging voice in my head telling me different..

Also as i've accepted the course through the CAO, an interview for the course wouldn't be sprung on me would it?

Just covering/trying to cover all bases here.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

doesn't really matter how you got the CAO offer, you've got it and you've accepted it - so from here on you're treated like any other (mature) student who has accepted their offer.

Despite the fact NUIG have literally spammed me with posted literature over these last months, I guess they will wait until all candidates have accepted their offers before getting in touch again (with mature students) about registration etc.

And no - an interview definitely won't be sprung on you after being made (and accepting) an offer - your friends are right about that : )

    good luck

So i have my course in the bag, phew can rest easy then, wouldn't call myself a mature student now, unless 21 counts as mature... This is my 3rd attempt, and literally 3rd times a charm :D

Haven't heard a whisper from NUIG since accepting the offer, was starting to get a wee bit paranoid, so hopefully i'll have the registration forms sometime this week when the LC results are out.

Thank god for no interview, that almost drove me cuckoo's thinking an interview would be sprung on me, should have listened to friends/family in the first place..

Cheers for the mucho helpful advice :)

No reason why you would have to do an interview. You have accepted the offer therefore you have a place.

It most likely will be the following week when CAO is out not this week. If unsure why not ring the admins office in NUIG on Monday?

Well would you look at that...

NUIG have sent out a mass-email this morning giving details on exactly the very topic I was wondering about: registration, dates, etc.

and much more. it's quite a detailed email.
