Medical cards?

I have a medical card and need a referral to an OBGYN - will this cost me anything? Do I have to pay my GP / the OBGYN? How much?
Is the waiting list ridiculously long (Dublin!)?
Also if I need to get certain tests or surgery done like an ultrasound / pelvic exam / laparoscopy - how much will this cost me? Under 25 so don't qualify for free smear tests.
Sorry for all the questions just trying to be thorough and thanks in advance !

No, it will be free to be referred but yes you could be waiting a fair amount of time. (Referred to OBGYN by doctor last week to Rotunda and she told me at least a year). If you need tests or surgery they are covered once you get them done in the public healthcare system. Same with surgery (inpatient fee's are covered under the medical card).
