Have had 2 titaniums and am now on a 931 reynolds stainless frame ...
Much better than titanium for me anyway as I'm no feather weight
    Stiffer but yet comfortable
I didn't flinch selling either of the titaniums as whilst they were comfortable and looked nice they didn't have a lively feel... But I can't see myself parting with this ... Very snappy lively ride . Very enjoyable.
Has even made me consider why I bother still owning a high end carbon bike for the riding I do.

I fancy the look of the stainless snob from Ritte if you are looking to drop some decent cash.

    +1 on the Ritte.

Ive a stainless Genesis Equilibrium and am loving it. Its no featherweight, but with 28mm tyre and mudguard clearance its very comfortable for general purpose riding.

If I was racing, I'd seriously consider a lighter stainless frame with a nice groupset/ set of wheels.

I have titanium and stainless steel framed bikes. The titanium is smoother and more comfortable for the longer spins and is my first choice bike. The Reynolds 953 SS is stiffer, not quite as comfortable, and slightly heavier than the ti. I think the 953 SS is more suited to the heavier rider and Genesis who make the Volare 953 say that their bigger pro riders tend to opt for the SS bikes while the smaller climber types tend to go for their carbon options. Both titanium and stainless are excellent materials for bike frames and you won't go far wrong with either.

    your spot on..
i am that heavier rider and i think thats why the 931 suits me better than ti..

The new Genesis SS ( and the Ritte ) are made with KVA tubing as opposed to Reynolds 953, although there doesnt seem to be much difference.

I don't mind stiff, latest bike is a propel

Really just want something to hang some campagnolo on to look pretty and take on relaxed spins

Anyone ever tried a Nevi bike ?

Nice bike but I can't help but see all the other Genesis bikes about and at that price want something rarer.

rarer isn't really a concern for me, If I saw a genesis down the country Id be surprised

The Nevi brand would be rarer and maybe just right for chorus+bora+more of italy ?
but reviews, are hard to find

    Back on topic:

has anyone ridden either the Genesis 953 or a Nevi

I bought a Genesis Volare 953 from Hollingsworth Cycles last Autumn. They had bought a lot of Genesis end of season bikes in bulk and were selling them at a major discount. I picked up the 953, swapped out the Ultegra for Athena and upgraded the stock wheels. As I said above, the 953 is a stiff bike with a chunky bottom bracket, it came with a quality Enve 2.0 fork. Not the lightest bike, but built to last. I'm not mad about the colour scheme but the newer version has a much nicer paint job. Although it is reasonably comfortable I feel it was designed for racing and is used to race by the Madison Genesis UK Pro team with dura ace group set and wheels. My club mate bought one too and he is delighted with his.

I need to read long posts better

I think think they have dropped the enve fork now :( but i prefer the colour now

What wheels did you stick on ? any chance you weighted it ?

If weight is a priority I would keep looking but it comes in under 8kg. Athena would not be the lightest groupset and I have a Brooks Cambium saddle on it too which is also heavyish. Use both Campagnolo Shamals and Neutron Ultras wheel sets depending on the day.

I love the look of the ritchey logic. Haven't had a chance to ride one but it's the next frame on the list.

How about a disc framed bike?

    http://rittecycles.com/snob-snob-disc/

I'm loving these. I think I may need to empty out the piggy bank

I have discs on the mtb and would love them on the road too but the next build is a campagnolo build and they don't have a disc option yet

If stainless is where I land than it Reynolds I'd like

i have it on my cyclocross

    :confused::confused::confused:

I'd like a full clean groupset and even then if the Italians do launch discs I may still go with standard rim calipers

On the road, even downhill in the rain I have always been happy with braking

The only time I wasn't was when I had a cannodale synapse in the canaries with shimano discs, it and they were both woeful

At the moment the Genesis is in the lead, I'm not picky enough to need custom but if I went custom I'd expect a lot
