    Hi,
I'm in the market for a 4 door saloon.
Diesel ,reliable, cheap to buy,run and tax.

Are the 1.6 TDI octavias reliable?
Do they give any dpf trouble etc

My mother has a 2011 one from new about 120k km on it she has never had an issues with it at all. It goes to the dealer to be serviced that's it. They are a good reliable car. You will have no dpf issues once the car will be / has been getting the correct type driving for a diesel which is loads of long drives and opportunities for the dpf to regenerate. If your going buying it to tip around town everyday then you may well have dpf issues the same as you'll have in any newer diesel car.

They are about average for a modern diesel. No better or worse than the competition IMO.

The DPF is generally trouble free in normal use.

    Known issues include:
Leaking water pumps leading to timing belt and water pump change ahead of schedule.
    Faulty EGR coolers.
    Clutch and flywheel issues.
    DPF differential pressure sensors.
Injector issues are becoming more common (electrical failure leading to misfire)
