How much you have to pay depends on what it is.

If it's a camera, for example, you will have to pay customs duty of 3.2% on it, as well as VAT of 23%.

VAT & duty are payable on the full cost - base cost + Chinese sales tax + shipping + insurance.

Also worth noting that since the good are coming from China, they will be scrutinized. If they're in any way counterfeit, they may be held by customs and destroyed.

Moved to Online Buying & Auctions.

VAT due will depend on the item being purchased, and it will be charged on the cost of the item + shipping fees + others

It would be OEM electronic goods, not counterfeit anyway. So 3.2% and then an additional 23%.

Hi Not looking to start a religious debate ,but what are people's views on teaching religion to kids so young . Our little lad is starting school in September and got his books today and the religion book is fairly full on...I was kind of shocked ...I don't mind teaching children about all religions and the history of religion . We are Catholic but not practising ,the school he is attending is the only option for us and I don't want to Single him out by getting him to sit out religion . There is no mention of any other religion in his books at all... Would like to hear people's view and the views from other parents who's children are in school... Thanks

Still depends on the item. e.g. Digital cameras are 0% duty.

There will be a handling fee too, €7 if its on post, and €15 or so with couriers, not sure of the current max limit.

The VAT will be on the postage too, so I would try and get cheap postage.

I would also be very wary of spending that much, unless I was very confident in the place I was buying from.

Do you understand the word may?

They're more interested in significant items anyway. I've had non counterfeit items stopped by Canon, Samsung and HP for patent infringement a few times in the last two years.
