I've just put candy crush on my phone but I'm worried I'm spending money and not realising. You don't have to pay when you press retry do you? You pay only if you buy extra lives right ? Which is way too easy to do as I accidentally pressed it once. What about those booster things do you pay for those? I can't find any info in the app itself, I'm probably looking in the wrong place !

But you don't pay when you just click retry?

If you want free lives just set your phone clock forward about 6 hours, then launch CC so that it registers that you've got the lives then quit the game go back and reset your phone clock to normal. When you relaunch the game you'll still have full lives.

Same thing works for those end of area games where you can only do one every 24 hours btw.

I got to around level 400ish and never paid a cent.

(Then I uninstalled it cos it was starting to annoy the hell out of me :) )

Did you enter your paypal/CC details with google at any time?

    Yep.
It also charges you behind the scenes for the length of time you're playing - this will be reflected on your next bill or taken from your prepay credit at the next financial month.
Best you can do it burn your phone down.

    You need help.

After years spent testing games/software systems profesionally I do still automatically try out different ways of messing with them to see what'll happen - it's occasionally very interesting.

Remove any payment methods you have from play store. You can also set it to ask for your google password anytime you make a purchase.

Ah right, I assumed you went through the clock reset several times a day to facilitate your sick candy crush addiction.

Ah right, will try this. I was surprised when I accidentally bought the new lives that it didn't ask me to confirm or for a password or anything. It was just for the bus, didn't want to pay anything. I don't think I'll use it too much anyway

How do you pay for something on it with one click?

I've never paid for anything on it, but let the sister once buy some boosters when she was playing it on my phone, and it's more than one click. You click to buy it, then it tells you how many 'gold' you need, and the price, you click to accept, THEN put in your password or payment method.

It's really not difficult to avoid paying for things.

And no, you're not being charged without realising it. They're very clear in getting confirmation that you know you're paying, when you pay.

Oh that's good, I was worried I was racking up charges. I got an extra five lives and I definitely didn't enter any password. Maybe in fact I didn't pay but I thought for the extra lives you always paid.

The app occasionally gives free boosters (one a day) and extra lives (rarely). There's a three step system in place to buy anything, so relax.

Haha, I hope I don't sink to this level

Eh, just did a test there for the 3 steps - It said start the game with booster, so I clicked the Colour bomb picture with the little 9 gold bar beside it and it immediately came up - booster successfully purchased! No 3 steps

Just ring your network provider and check.
At this stage I'd get rid of the app and get (and they do exist) free ones that aren't a money making effort.

Which means you already input payment details (someone asked you that earlier and you said you hadn't?) and haven't got it password protected.

I just got a new phone and I definitely haven't put it in on this one, maybe on my old one so long ago that I can't remember doing it. Will see about fixing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 114 ✭✭sarahv

That's what was confusing me actually about what I was paying for because I assumed they would have asked me for password. Didn't think it would be so easy to pay

it would be linked to your google account.

Basically what it means is, on your old phone, you would have pressed a button one day, while buying a booster/lives, that says 'do not ask for my password again.' When you switched phones and synced your Google account, these same settings carried over too.

OP, this isn't the forum for it. Since you've got a Google account, I'm assuming you're using Android so ask here:
