    ESB and gas meter boxes.

And also the small box in the top left of kitchen with an X in it.

Hard to know. Is there a Bathroom over? Could indicate a boxed internal waste? Or, could indicate a room vent?

Why don't you ask whoever prepared the plan?

I'd say DOCARCH above is right. Looks like a boxed out waste from above.

    Offtopic:
The hatched shaded rectangle in the bathroom is the 1200mm x 750mm wheelchair space required under part M Section 3.4 of the building regulations but the layout isn't great. You are supposed to drive the wheelchair directly into that space but you wouldn't be able to in your layout.

Look at the layouts in the regulations and see how they are positioned opposite the door. http://i.imgur.com/BkZEtTl.jpg
I'd be of the opinion that your layout doesn't comply.
