Hi folks. Looking to play a round around Athlone tomorrow. The three courses that seem closest are Moate, Glasson and Mount Temple. Just wondering which would be the best course. I think there is singles on in Mount Temple tomorrow. If anybody fancies a round in the early afternoon it would be great. Thanks

Would athlone not be closest to athlone ?

Glasson would be the more aesthetically pleasing. Very nice scenary. Probably more difficult than the other two though

Mount temple is a nice course. A lot of the holes are straight up straight down but there is some lovely views of westmeath from the high points of the course. Mick Dolan the owner is a bit of a legend.

Moate is a very nice course also. Probably the easier of the 3. Last 5 holes are a good strong finish. I'm not a fan because I can never score on it but really it's very enjoyable to play.

But really Athlone is better than all 3 combined.

    (Not biased in the slightest)

Moate is better than the other 3*

    *I'm not biased either!

Enjoy wherever you play and let us know how you get on.

Thanks lads. You will have to excuse my ignorance. I didn't know there was a course in Athlone itself. Appreciate the advice though. Ill let you know how it goes.

Played Athlone at the start of June and it was excellent. haven't played the others but will be playing Glasson in September and looking forward to it. Athlone from experience and Glasson by reputation are both well worth a visit.
Have to add Moate & Mount Temple to next years list of courses for my society!

Played Athlone yesterday. I thought it was a good course with a good variety of holes. It was gentle enough with plenty of room off the tee on most holes. It was in lovely condition and the greens were nice and fast. Lots of different type holes too which i like. The 16th is a beast and a great hole. I would rate it and would like to play it again. Thanks for that Rikand.

Really glad you enjoyed yourself and thanks for the kind words about the course. Exactly what we need to hear :)

Have an eye on playing there now. On a midweek in the Hodson Bay coming in 2 weeks. What should I pay green fees?
