This bit of news is noteworthy for us who have the channel on generic FTA Sat/Freesat and Sky boxes as Channel 5 will eventually be going on one advertising stream on Satellite.

Viacom had stopped multi-regional adverts from Channel 5 on the 1st of August because they said it was financially unviable to keep them for the channel regions. Sky Media now has control of advertising for Channel 5 from this summer. This means as it's being streamlined into one channel; those of you who have a Sky Ireland sub (who get it via other channels particularly if in HD); you may have to retune Channel 5 again onto your Sky Boxes as you may lose it's current frequency.

Here is the article for the HD Swap here

A HD EPG swap had taken place with Channel 5 on Sky UK EPG in England. The channel number there changed from 171 to 105. It also means that Viacom could swap channels on certain frequencies to make space better on certain transponders.

We have still have nothing on Channel 5 HD going FTA either.

I can view Channel 5 HD, is that because I have the HD sub?

Other Channels on your Freesat receivers may be reshuffled to have less channels in it's database and new channel number to reflect the changes with Channel 5 along with Sky.

Can you guys think of possible new numbers and transponders for channel 5 and it's other services on Freesat?

The adverts on the HD version used to be named Channel 5 HD South which catered for viewers in the South of England.

It's is now just like a network version of regular Channel 5 in upgraded HD on a Sky HD sub.
