Selling on behalf of a traveling friend some of you may remember. :)

    Large size
    Full Ultegra 6700 10sp groupset
    175mm compact (50/34) cranks
FSA SL-K Compact 42mm carbon bars
Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon seatpost
    San Marco Ponza saddle
    2x Carbon bottle cages

Zipp 404 tubular carbon wheelset (1278g)
    Continental Competition tubular tyres (22mm)
    Dura Ace 7800 12-25 10sp cassette
    Dura Ace QR skewers

    €1,300

The bike has only been used for the first six months of 2010 as a
spare road bike as I have been away cycling my touring bike to
Indonesia since summer 2010. So it is very good, near new condition. I
am 182cm (6ft) and it fits me very well, it’s a compact frame with a
lot of leeway for saddle/stem adjustment and the fork steerer is uncut
so it is reasonably flexible regarding fit.

The wheels I bought from Team Columbia-Highroad/HTC (Mark Cavendish’s
team at the time) at the start of 2010; they use them for one season
racing and then sell them on.

I am happy to split the bike and wheels, in which case I would be
looking for €650 for the bike without wheels, and €650 for the Zipps
    together with the tyres.

Hi Tom, what is the version of the hub and the colour of the rear hub body? is it silver, blue red? Is the hub 82/182 or the later 88/188 ? just trying to guage the year and to determine a good price point to make an offer.

    thanks

That yoke doesn't even have any pedals. And why's the seat so high? What are trying on?

not to doubt your use or the excellent set of tubs and cassette but because of the age of them now, maybe 8-10 years old, maybe 600 is still too much ?

    I'll offer €275

They're 7 years old and are in prefect condition - for most of those 7 years they've only been used once or twice a year. On that basis I don't think yours is a reasonable offer. Thanks though.

For what, the wheels or the bike?

Either way I'd have to say that's too low.

Hi, you can see where I and most would be coming from though, it's hard to argue that there's been rapid development since the 06-08 zipp wheel and even to non zipp wheels so 600 is really steep notwithstanding the fact it was raced for a full year before you got them. Plus it's 10 speed. And even on the basis that it's a 08 wheel i know you say it's lightly used but it's hard to know how it was used before you. so good luck with the sale.

Do you know if the wheels will take an 11s cassette? If not can an 11s freehub still be bought for this model?

Ok I'll have a think but I would have to travel a distance, please do likewise and get back to me if needs be. Thanks.

There is no 11sp Shimano freehub available for these hubs, but you can get an 11sp Campagnolo freehub and run an 11sp cassette that will work with any 11sp groupset from Shimano, SRAM or Campag - at least that's what the internet tells me.

Hi guys, I'm the owner of the bike Tom is kindly selling for me. Currently in Melaka in southern Malaysia, 2°N off the equator, unfortunately stuck here for a while with a leg injury.

Inspection and test ride is fine, the bike has only been ridden for six months in 2010 and not even very much during that period as it was bought as a spare bike, I mostly rode and raced a Litespeed as well as eight other bikes (I had too many). So I am sure you would find it in absolutely mint condition. It's a fantastic ride, to be honest the ride quality is virtually indistinguishable from my previous Trek Madone or my current Litespeed Archon main bikes.

It's a really nice, light bike, the finishing kit has been massively upgraded from what you would usually see on a PX with carbon bars, seatpost and bottle cages. It's substantially lighter than most bikes you see at this sort of price range. The bars are also supremely comfortable and fantastic at absorbing vibrations.

From Google at current prices the bars on their own retail at €292 on Wiggle. The seatpost was also Bontrager's top of the line one and is one of the lightest you can get.

I'd drop to €575 but loath to go below that; you really are getting a lot of bike for the money.

The bike absolutely rewards and is worth putting a high end light wheelset on but if you just wanted to finish it for the moment without breaking the bank I see someone is selling a basic road wheelset for €60 with tyres and tubes at the moment on adverts.ie, or new there is the likes of the Shimano RS10 at €100 from Wiggle (I have these wheels myself on another bike, they are very decent for an entry level wheelset).

    Thanks for the interest.

They've been hanging up in my attic apart from the front getting used maybe 5 or 6 times for TTs and the set being used for a Mondello race a couple of years ago (sorry blorg! I had to at least give them a try!).

As I've said, they're in great condition.

Hi Tom, did you see the offer, what did the owner say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,833 ✭✭✭niceonetom

Sorry Taxuser1, I didn't get a email notification for your last post so I missed it until just now.

You're going in the right direction but €440 is still quite a bit lower than I'm allowed to go.

A firm €550 is all I can do.
