So, I live in Portlaoise and I work in Portobello. I've been driving in since I started a few weeks ago.

I'm aware that long term this may not be feasible, especially when the schools come back. Unfortunatly, moving is not really an option. I wonder what alternatives there are, can anyone advise if there's a better way to get to Portobello, specifically the hotel, at 8:30am, Monday to Friday.

Train to Heuston, 145 bus to Leeson Street bridge, and walk 10 minutes along the canal?

    Train times are here:

    145 Bus timetable is here:

Use the national journey planner at www.a-b.ie, put in exact addresses and tweak the settings where necessary. It may offer alternative options.

There are a small number of Bus Éireann buses that operate via South Circular Road, but that is likely to mean changing buses at Naas. As you will be changing anyway, it might make more sense to use the faster train services.

Do check out www.taxsaver.ie - it can cut the cost of your ticket by half. You are able to buy an Irish Rail + Dublin Bus ticket.

Leaving a bike in Heuston might also be an option or getting a Dublin Bikes membership.
