primer to change magnolia?

    In a new house finished in magnolia would you need primer to change it to white?

    In a word No. Usually 2 coats will be needed of the new colour so I would be confident that if you use a good quality paint 2 coats of white will cover the magnolia.

    good quality? can you suggest a brand? I would like a matt finish

    Dulux matt or for the very best go for Colortrend washable matt but it does come at a cost. Fleetwood also do a good washable matt which will work out cheaper.
    Fleetwood extra plus (red bucket) has excellent covering power, butg won't take a wipe of a damp cloth.

    In my house white dulux needed 3coats to cover the magnolia but now it's fine
