I've tried cheaper sync cables in the past when stuck without one travelling etc., and from experience they always take FOREVER to charge compared to the apple version - esp. in the car. Grand if you're not in a rush or anything but I wouldn't expect the same level of performance. But hey, that's just me!

Pity they are only 1.5m, I need a longer one.

I never use the branded ones, overpriced and the charge is the same with non branded (actually an unbranded one I had charged my devices faster than the branded ones).

Just to note, in a lot of cases, the car charging cables are not the issues here, but the actual plug-in cig USB adapter which is the charging bottleneck (you know the cheapie ones you pick up for a couple of € either in dealz or online ).

Ideally, look for dock with a 2.1ah rating, and it'll charge just fine.

Yup, it reads correctly. And Aldi stuff is pretty reliable. I'd definitely take a punt on this if I was in the market. I hard wired a similar one into the fusebox of the car, so I've a permanent charge feed coming neatly out of the drivers side of the dash, just 15 cms exposed, which then plugs into phone while cradled. Ideal.

Lightning sync cables in Aldi today for €4.99. Working fine with my iPhone 6 Plus. They're MFI certified USB 2.0 and a good deal compared to the €19 Apple are charging.

Hey, does it say on packet that its MFI certified as can't find it on the website? Thanks.

I'll grab one tomorrow morning and test the charge rates compared to a genuine cable

Same here. Some Dealz/Eurosaver etc cables charge (with an Android) but the phone runs out faster than ever, other cables make the phone think it's charging while it actually loses battery power) :(

    It is what it's.

Anyone manage to get a cable? Tried Carrickmacross and the two stores in Dundalk to no avail.

Got 2 yesterday, one was braided and the other wasn't. The braided one is fantastic, very fast but the other is rubbish, gives a "not charging" signal on 2 different iPads but works ok on iPhones

One thing that really bugged me was that they were kept behind the till (in Clonee anyway) so you have to ask the cashier for them. They were in a big box so she had to rummage through them to see what was left, all the while you can feel every other customer in the queue burning a hole in you with their eyes. Don't understand why they couldn't have been left with the other specials for people to browse at their leisure.

    Can't argue with that. Cheers.

That's very annoying that they've kept them behind the till. Tried a few different stores and only one cashier knew what I was talking about!

Grabbed one in Kells, they were out with the other stuff, but will look to return it if they are as bad as the pics above show.

I've not had any problems with mine and haven't noticed any difference, but then again I don't really pay much attention to how long it takes to charge. I just didn't fancy paying €19 for the Apple version and if I'm waiting longer for it to charge, well, so be it.
