Could anybody recommend a good website for vintage longines watches that's reputable

ebay, lots of choice anyway. Rest are all dealers with at least 100% markup for the same watches.

Don't be afraid to ask questions OP, send a pm to someone on here to ask for an opinion if you like. Most of them will need a service as well. Try get clear photos of the movement, look the serial number up here, http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/year_identifier.php
it's accurate up to about 1970. They changed the numbering system to start at 50,000,000 I think it is, link here as a guide

But it's not as thorough. I'm no expert by any means, but there are people on here with a lot more knowledge than I'll ever have. There seems to be a lot of franken watches being put together in the Ukraine, I tend to avoid them altogether. What exactly are you looking for?

thanks for the good advice,indeed I see there are many folks here that know there stuff and will certainly run watches past in future,i overpaid in the past on an omega constellation from the uk so not going to get caught again!!

I have my eye out for a nice longines so was just looking at various sites and not in any rush this time:)
