Had a tip tonnight with other car , was my fault.

Dinged wings broken headlight and bumper on both cars

Financially would I be better off repairing my car through my own insurance or do it out of my own pocket?

    Thanks

Assuming other person will claim from your policy anyway, it will make no difference whatsoever to your next premium if you claim for your car or not.

So there are two options really.
    1. You let other person claim from your policy and also claim yourself and accept premium rise.
    2. You pay up for repair of other person's vehicle as well as yours, and your premium is not affected.

You have to do calculations yourself really.
