Just bought one of these at the weekend, has anybody on here rooted one of these, looking through XDA, Droidviews etc, I can only find rooting instructions for one that is running KitKat 4.4.... I updated the phone when i took it out of the box to lollipop ver. 5.0.2....and as of yet can't find a way to root it. Tried Kingo Root, Towelroot but zilch. I know I could possibly do a factory reset and then root it but that would mean reinstalling apps etc...Thanks in advance for any advice, information.

The Towelroot Dev, GeoHot, now works for Google, closing those root exploits...

so no further development there :)

Kingroot, here is the XDA Thread, claims to Root 5.0 devices.....

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461

but, it has built-in protection now to prevent it being removed and replaced by the SuperSu and the SuperSume App or scripts.....[they don't work anyway with the latest Kingroot]

bit of a Cold War going on...

but, I found nothing wrong with it, there may be some China Apps, etc, which they claim are for researching and adding devices to their data base.....

Read this article....it may explain what I can't.....

    The apps can be frozen/disabled....

I'd give it a go, but read up on it and don't do it if you think there may be danger.

There is also a Desktop version, which they claim will be successful, even if the App isn't.....

This is Kingroots China site, which will need translate, but to download the windows rooting tool, the download button is on the right!!

    And don't blame me!!! :D

    Sorry for hijacking this one.

I have a Core Prime and it was a great phone until I updated it to 5.0, now it's a piece of junk, slow, crashing apps etc.

I factory reset it and reinstalled all the apps but it did not help.

I think I found a 4.4 image on the web so I'm going to try and revert it to that.

But I assume i need to root it first, and if I can't do that I'm stuck.

    Thanks for that.

Will be good to know for the future because a month or so ago a updated appeared and it solved all the problems.
No more lag, no more apps not responding, back to its old self.
