Car Auctions in the West?

A friend of mine wants to sell their car at an auction (long story short, the car isn't a very desireable or valuable make, they don't want the hassle of selling privately having to entertian "tyre-kickers" etc..) Just wondering if anyone knows of or could recommend any car auction places in the West?

They're living in Galway and know of one in Claremorris that they're thinking of trying, any others to be aware of first though? Or any in Galway itself?

    Thanks!

Put it up on done deal or adverts at a realistic price and you won't get many if any tyre kickers. What car is it/year?

If it's not worth much some auction probably wont bother taking it in.

Not sure of the exact model, but it's about 8 years old. There's some issue with the car and they've brought it to about 5 mechanics who've all diagnosed something different - it's nothing major but it's causing a rattle and all mechanics are diagnosing different issues, it's driving perfect, but seeing as similar cars aren't going for much on the likes of DoneDeal they want to sell it "as is" at an auction as they don't want to be accused of selling a lemon and having hassle with any potential buyer later on down the line. They're aware that they're not going to get much for it, but it's just sitting up at the moment as they recently got a new(er) car.

There's no car auction site in Galway at the moment as far as I know. Claremorris car auction has an entry fee of €20 per car so your friend needs to decide if transport to/from Claremorris is worth it, this will certainly be a factor if car is unroadworthy/without tax/NCT/insurance and needs to be transported to the auction.

As already suggested, if the auction route turns out to be a non-runner try putting it on sale on DoneDeal at a low price (for parts only maybe), declare the faults and it will attract calls. In my experience the more faults you admit, the fewer tyre kickers will bother you.

If sticking it up for sale make sure that they use a disposable SIM, less chance of getting hassle from buyers who break it after buying and think that they can get their money back.
