How long is the wait for grant payment?

    I recently received a letter from SUSI informing me of their acceptance of my grant application. So I know for definite I will be receiving the grant once I send Final Course Acceptance form. My question is how long will I be waiting until the first payment? The letter says September but I know last year they paid a month in arrears, so the first payment was October, but everyone Ive talked to who went to college last year didn't receive the grant until December/January. How likely is it I will receive it in Setpember/October or is it likely it will take a few months to process, as it did for others I know?

    If you are eligible for a maintenance grant, you have successfully submitted your FCA and this in turn is applied to your application on time, then you will receive your first payment in October.

    I know that the first payment will be in October for the OP but isn't the first payment a bit earlier for renewal grants? Just wondering... I feel like I've seen it somewhere before and I'd like to know since there are no previous dates available online at the moment.

    No, all payments including renewal students are one month in arrears. The colleges must confirm attendance for the previous month in order for the payment to be released to the student.
    However, the renewal payments maybe a different date than first year students and is a separate date from PLC students.

    "The first payment dates for maintenance grants are:
    Mid September for renewal students.
    Late September for new grant applicants."
