This evening is the beginning of the end.

Went for my first 'official' couch to 5k run. Having done a few runs earlier last week to break the legs in, I started on Wk2D01 of the Irish Times Beginners Running C25K Plan.

This evenings run/walk consisted of 4 rounds of 3min Run/2min Walk, along with a 5min warmup & cooldown. Did the session on the beach and covered a total distance of 3.5km. This evening I didn't feel too much strain on my lungs/breathing as I was taking it as slow as I could, but I did feel a lot of strain on my calves, having to stop several times to give them a stretch. I suppose this is to be expected as they haven't been worked out in a while. Wondering if running on sand would have an impact on this too.

I'm using the Strava app to track my runs, this is probably my main encouragement as it'll give me some focus to be able to look at my previous stats and keep trying to improve on them. My short term goal is to run a 5k in the next 2-3 months which I think should be pretty do-able by sticking with this plan.

Hoping to use this training log to keep myself accountable more than anything. If anyone has any advice/suggestions/comments I'd be delighted to hear them.
