Sub €300 laptop - is there any point?

I'm looking to replace my old Toshiba laptop which is starting to creak. Since we bought it 5 or so years ago we have acquired many phones, tablets and several old laptops (saved from being thrown out from work). Plus a PS4 for the gamers in the family.

As a result, we no longer need a single monolithic "powerful enough to run everything" laptop, but we do need something that is able to run the latest Office things because Microsoft have deluged our schools with their kool aid.

I was in Power City the other day and saw they had a couple of sub-€300 laptops, at least one of which appeared to be running Windows 10. I'm happy enough to spend that sort of money but want to make sure that I don't end up with a total lemon.

Can anyone recommend anything in this price range (refurbished is fine), or is this the sort of price at which you can only get under-powered machines and I should avoid?

    z

Buy a used Dell Latitude or Lenovo Thinkpad business-class laptop on Adverts tbh.
