Full coverage foundations

Anyone here like me and only use full coverage foundation? They can be hit and miss with oily skin but I always found Revlon colour stay the best for value and quality. When I discovered it I thought great thats me I won't be changing any time soon. However lately I have noticed with better cameras my face is coming out a bit odd. I was thinking nothing of it until my friend pointed it out too.

Anyone here using a better, maybe better quality foundation to achieve really good cover up. Someone mentioned to me about Iglot's new HD perfect cover up. I haven't tried it as the girl in the store said your face does need good prepping. I wear foundation most days so not sure I have the time or patience for all of that.

    Advice or thoughts?

Most Revlon foundations have light-reflecting particles in them that can make you look really ghostly under flash photography. I remember one blogger complaining that Revlon PhotoFinish (ironically!) made her look like a Twilight vampire in photos. SPF in foundation can also do it.

Anyway, I also have very oily skin. I actually don't like a full-coverage foundation for daily wear, but when I do need one, I find Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra the best. Double Wear is just too mask-like for me personally and Mac StudioFix hates my skin - it catches really badly in my eyebrows and around my hairline.

Lancôme are great for giving samples so go in to your nearest counter and ask them for one before you buy. It's about €25, depending on where you buy.

Yes exactly that. I never remember it being like that before so the cynic inside me wondered had they changed it to encourage people to buy the photofinish foundation! I love Lancome prep products but never tried any of their foundations. I will though now on your advice thank you.

I enquired with one of the Inglot stores over the phone and the girl seemed really genuine and couldn't of spoke higher of their HD perfect cover up. Obviously she would like but she made an interesting point about the SPF. The Revlon has this so that could be the issue.

The Teint Idole Ultra has SPF 15 but I've never found it causes an issue with glare in photographs. But definitely get a sample. Lancome nearly always give you enough for four or five days so you'll definitely be able to get a good feel for it.

This one by Lancome is fantastic. It has SPF15 but it doesn't flash back/glare in photos.

The L'Oreal Infallible foundation might be worth checking out, its full coverage, and it sets and once it sets, it doesn't move. It reminds me a lot of double wear by Estee Lauder but for a cheaper price.

It doesn't flashback or glare in photos, but it doesn't have SPF either which might be better esp for nights out, events etc.

Double wear is another good one, full coverage, sets and doesn't budge, has SPF10 didn't flashback/glare on me, around €36 though I think. Try a sample if you can, I find sometimes with some EL counters they've no pots, so bring in a wee pot with you and ask them to give you a sample of it.

This is another good one, its full, full coverage though. A girl I know used it once to cover a wrist tattoo and it worked, it was an absolute b!tch to get off though. The girl said it was like tar.

Vichy dermablend is another one, full coverage, but a nightmare to get off. A friend of mine bought it and ended up needing to use a facial scrub to get it off.

Laura Mercier silk creme foundation always gets consistently good reviews- I've tried a sample before myself and liked it. No spf in it either.

I found it impossible to find dermablend in a light enough colour, they're all orange !

Estee Lauder Double Wear is definitely your only man for coverage, but it gives TERRIBLE flashback in photos. Think Casper, on a night out, while feeling a little under the weather, in an Irish summer.

Has to be a no no then. Thats what has me turned off Revlon Colour stay. Amazing coverage and flawless finish but its the fear of being photoed now!!! I think I will stick to it for day wear then go for something a tag more expensive amongst the list for nights out. Thanks ladies!

I went foundation hunting recently and was told by all the staff on the beauty counters that I don't need full coverage as I've good skin

Now I've a couple of scars etc, and tried a non full coverage on their recommendation and it's actually fine.

Why do you guys feel you need full coverage?

I'm in my forties btw, so you might read this and say I'm very lucky, but I was amazed, three beauty counters, Estee Lauder, Clinique and Elizabeth Arden all said it to me

I don't find that Double Wear gives adverse effects in photos at all. And I wore it as a bridesmaid so was in lots of flash photography!

Stheno, I have red-toned, uneven, oily skin that's prone to hives and I've tried many foundations but have found that Double Wear is the only one that I'm happy with in terms of coverage. I've tried the light version but it started to fail after a few hours!

But I am giving the recommended Lancôme one here a go. I got two samples to check the shades. I've asked in 3 places though and was told the price is €38 so I'd love to know who's selling it for €25!

One word for me - freckles!

I know loads of people are going to say how they love freckles (and i do on others) but i hate mine and use a heavier foundation at night to hide them. Otherwise i've great skin.

Another good one is Chanel Perfection Lumiere. The coverage is good, not much needs to be used. I also find the shade matches my skin very well. Only thing is it's not as long-wearing as Double Wear.

I prefer the way Perfection Lumiere looks, but I use Double Wear as my makeup tends to melt off my skin after a few hours. That's the only reason I wear full coverage makeup. My skin is pretty good, luckily. Never looks mask like either. I use a very small amount.

Don't know about photos, not something I've ever really thought about or cared about :o I wore Double Wear for a wedding and looked fine in the photos.

I just bit the bullet and bought the Iglot HD perfect. I knew if I didn't try it I would kick myself. I got the girl in their store to even take pictures with my decent camera when it was on. What am I like!?

Anyway so far so good. I wore it this morning to work and was pretty much still perfect when I was topping up my make up this evening heading out. Comes off a bit easier than the revlon and doesn't dry as quick when applying so you can work it in a bit better. Prepping my skin better too which probably helps.
