Just back from touring Kilkenny, Tipperary and Carlow for a week. Both the former are well served with quality campsites which we have stayed on before.
I struggled to find any listings for Carlow but found a couple of spots which may be useful for anyone heading that direction in the future.
South Carlow in particular was beautiful with lots to see and do. The Garden Festival was in full flow and Altamont in particular is well worth a visit.
There are may well presented villages, none more so than Clonegall.
Plenty of great walks in the Blackstairs and Mt Leinster at Borris.
There is a quiet car park down a lane by the church and school off the Main st which was perfectly safe for the night.
In the nearby village of Rathanna is another quiet car park beside a beautifully refurbished Victorian bar from the 1860s called Osborne's. It had been closed for many years and the owner had also restored an old Storehouse for accommodation for walkers.
Lets hope someone puts in an Aire or facilities in this beautiful region soon as it has lots to offer.
