Sagem 6000 eircom handset

Hi! We recently dug up a Sagem 6000 eircom phone and decided to use it. However we have no idea how to tone down the volume or deactivate handsfree mode. We've tried many, many times but nothing really happens. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
