Came across this article, interesting. -

Did not think this was rampant across the motor industry.

I like some decent tail pipe tips, I think they give the car some presence. Hence 'genuine' S2K tips on my own car.

What do you drive yourself ?

You could suck a Ford Focus through that if it got too close.

Yay or nay - imo depends if there's a pipe there, totally sad on a diesel Audi when there's nothing at all behind one side in many cases.

tbf thats a diesel audi, Diesels can have as many or as little tail pipes they wish. The problem lies much further north.

That's assuming the 'faux' has no purpose. A break between the two and correct fins would create an area of air flow and pressure. Aero dynamics and pressure are very important on the intake and exhaust of any engine system. And given we are discussing cars where aerodynamics are a considerable factor, I'd imagine there is a reason for it.

Could be completely wrong of course!

    I completley agree OP.

    Here's a better list:

    http://www.carthrottle.com/post/7-fake-exhaust-pipes-that-make-expensive-cars-look-cheap/

Pitiful when you think about the amount of money these cars command.

Then you have manufacturers compensating for the crap sound the exhaust makes by pumping synthetic sound in through the speakers.

The Audi RS6 is a serious offender imo

I would not buy a car that pumps sound into the cabin, that sound should come from the engine.

I think for the most part BMW has always had proper tips on their cars, they never really had overly big exits.

Nay for me. If the car is decent from the outset, it'll already have a decent exhaust. If it isn't, then it doesn't deserve one.
