New to Castlebar, advice wanted please

I have just moved over from the UK, I am new to the Castlebar area and I'm looking for some general advice.

Firstly I am renting an apartment in the town centre and am looking into buying a package TV wifi bundle. What would people in the area recommend as the best value for money, that offers reasonable wifi and a selection of channels?

Secondly I want to open an Irish bank account and wondered what would be the best branch to go with to avoid excess fees as my wages aren't overly substantial?

Thirdly, where would be best to sign up for a joint gym membership?

Fourthly, how do I apply for a pps number?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I'm new to this forum and area! :)

That's a really useful website, particularly if you're new to the country.

    Welcome to Mayo! :)

Some apartment buildings don't allow you to fix a satellite dish to the building. That means you can't get Sky TV. If you want a good selection of channels and internet then eircom have a TV and broadband bundle. If you are happy with a limited selection of live channels that's topped up by netflix, etc then you can just use regular TV and get anyone for a broadband connection such as vodafone, eircom or sky broadband.

Do you need the gym to have a pool?

*MOD NOTE- Your trolling, don't continue it. You were warned about your other post. Continue this line of silly posting and you'll be banned. Your choice*

Separate posts, I was going to point out that a car would be a nice to have as Westport has many Gym's whereas Castlebar has really only two and one of them is unuseable as its too busy. Sorry if I cause offence.

Preferably yes, I would like a pool included with the gym membership. Is there anything like this within walking distance of Castlebar?

I have been pricing online and comparing UPC and Eircom. There's very little price difference, UPC offers a better selection of channels. What is people's experience of using UPC in Castlebar town centre? Less than 5 minute walk from market square.

UPC isn't available in Castlebar which is why I mentioned eircom and Sky.

The gym beside the cinema has a pool. I don't use the gym but people I work with say they prefer the one in Breaffy but you need a car for that.

The one at the cinema has a pool and gym.
Then again there are a few gyms in town and the main Cbar pool is there with a new one coming down the line in the next few years.
Breaffy house is a nice setup but its more than a walk I'm afraid.

There is a gym in the Sportslann at McHale park and a new one across the road 'Mayo Health quarters' I think as well as lots of other specialist. MMA, Boxercise etc. if ya don't need the pool
