Hi all, I'm looking for some advice from people who have more experience with the above boxes than me,
A few months ago I was told about the skybox v8 from a friend in work and bought one on adverts and I've been very happy with it since I got it, I have been missing the features of sky+ such as pause & recording ect, I was looking on adverts and say the vu+ boxes, quick bit of youtube later and I think these could be the solution for me, can I ask from your experiences with the solo2 or the duo2
    1. In it worth changing from my v8?
    2. Is the recording reliable?
    3. There is quite a price difference between the duo and the solo is it worth spending the extra as I won't be using multi satellite impute ie it will only be Astra 28.2 I think it is?
    4. Is the iptv & Kodi platforms stable on the vu+

Thanks for taking the time to read, sorry if it's a bit longwinded I'm a noob to the non what sky give you equipment.

no comparison between 'skybox series' & vu, to record one channel while watching another, you need twin tuner. vu-duo2 can be expensive, vu-solo2 can be got here in ireland deluvered for under 300 euro, twin tuner box , will support xbmc gotham in latest Black Hole image. The image with xbmc will not run on older vu-models, solo, duo, ultimo. you can get a plug in kodi direct which will work in all linux based boxes, you add your sources as addons, but older boxes have less flash memory, so beware, skyboxes are cheaper, but you can do so much more with linux based receivers, the cheapest genuine lvu would be the zero, very fast machine, better choice than solo, but single tuner & won't support xbmc embedded BH image
    just kodi direct plugin

@samsid thanks for your reply, I think the solo2 might be the one for me, I miss coming home from work and having goldrush or discovery programs waiting for me :-) I have a minix mx8 and I'd say I've used it a handful of times, it's a great android box but I tend to watch showbox on my phone on the commute to work on bus, yet for the kids to watch movies a plug in on the VU is the best option so I think selling the v8 & the minix and getting the solo, I saw on utuve the blue hd skin for the VU box and with the features of record and pause it's the sky killer I was looking for from day 1, thanks again
