Replacing an iStick 50W / Kanger Sub mini

    Hello,
Thanks to some advice from some of you guys a few months back, I bought a Kanger Subtank and an iStick 50W and used for a long time. I broke the Subtank and replaced with it the mini version, but other than that happy enough until now.
The iStick is shot, the battery doesnt really hold charge or whatever. I'm not bothered by it, it's been great til now, and just wondering should I be changing it for the same or is there something better? I have only ever used it at 25W max, maybe just buy the 30?
The Kanger tanks I really have loved, they are usually rock solid and don't leak apart from the usual airplane fun we have all surely had at this stage. The only thing I would find to complain about, is that some heads are duds from the get go, misfire or something and it results in a lot of "airborne juice". They are original OCC heads etc, so it's annoying when it happens, but I just toss them and put in a new one, so not the end of the world.

So given that newer products are out all the time, and assuming I don't want a rebuildable, are there any clearly better tanks/batteries that I should look at when replacing the above. Opinions appreciated as always.

Stick with the subtanks, they are the best all rounder I think right now.
There are other great tanks out there, the Joyetech Delta 2, Aspire Atlantis (and their new Triton looks great), but if you're happy with the subtanks stick with it. You might even give rebuilding a go to save you big bucks on coils.

Apologies for hijacking this thread but I figured you might be able to give me some advice. I bought the istick 50 at the weekend as an upgrade to my usual ego batteries. Having charged it up I attached one of my kanger tanks there was a massive burst of vape, a burning taste and then nothing! I had left the istick at the original settting (50W) and was just wondering if this was just too high for that atomiser. I replaced the atomiser coil and it worked fine on the ego but before I burnout another coil can anyone advise what setting I should be using on the istick or am I doing something else wrong?
    Many thanks in advance.

What Kanger tank was it? Actually probably doesn't matter if the istick was set to 50W its gona burn the sh*t out of whatever coil is in there.

If its a subtank anywhere between 22-30watts is fine. If its one the more standard tanks like the Mega or Protank you're talking about 10-12.5 watts.

Aha! Thanks so much - am heading off on holidays tomorrow and really needed the istick, what with the longer battery life etc. I reset it to 11.5w and it worked perfectly. Thanks a million!

Trond is dead on the money! At 50W your likely putting 5 or 6 times the power of your eGo battery through your atomiser!

Always start at low power like 10W and edge it up/down until you find your personal sweet spot. This will vary depending on the atomiser, juice, inhaling style (direct to lung or mouth to lung) and how warm you like the vapour.

Yeah, I accidentally dry burned my subtank RBA at 50w and it went flying off the deck, I couldn't find it afterwards. On the bright side, my missus is Cockney and had the presence of mind to say "you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

If you look at the side of OCC coil for the Kanger, it says "15W-30W" or something like that.
Didihno thanks for the response, is the iStick good to replace too, still one of the better batteries?

I have 2 iStick 50 and wouldn't hesitate to get another one, I think some of the early problems were just a bad batch and they did replace free of charge

Thanks a million guys - reckon I'm ready to go with this new istick thingy...now just need to upgrade the atomiser. Will wait til after the holidays so can do a bit more research. Thanks again all!

I don't own a 50w iStick myself, I didn't like the size or feel of them.
But they are regarded as top notch and reliable after some early batches had teething problems. Should be no issues there and it'll keep you in with a big choice of atomisers.

Always set your power low after changing atomisers/coils/juices.
There are always subtle differences when swapping out any components and dropping the power will allow you to then ramp it up safely to where you like it.

If you don't mind swapping batteries then the kbox/subox mini is that bit smaller than the iStick 50w or even just get two of the newer iStick 40w TC, just got one yesterday and it really is nice and small for a 2600 mah device

Thinking of upgrading from the 30w to the 40w myself, and adding the new kanger subtank mini with upgraded 1.5 ohm coils (moving from istick 30w with nautilus)
