Ready made curtains

I need 25 meters of curtain material to make up a few small and one wide window.
The cost of fabric and then lining is very expensive.
Can anyone tell me, would it be a major ask of a curtain maker to alter readymade curtains to the sizes I need? I would be getting a plain curtain.
    Many thanks!

There is a fabric warehouse in Newbridge Co. Kildare just beside Newbridge Silverware...all the fabrics are 5 euro per metre. There is plenty of choice they also sell lining. The last time I was there ( 3 months ago) they only took cash. Any good curtain maker will have no problem altering readymade curtains.

Nope. It wouldn't at all. Most seamstress' should be able to do it, not nevessarily a "curtain maker".
I got curtains recently in ikea, that were super long, and my mother is taking them up, and changing the tape at the top. She doesn't sew much at all, but it's not a big job, so she's happy to do it!
