Hi. I am a filmmaker based in Belfast and I am currently working on a documentary about Rinty Monaghan. The plan is to detail Rinty's boxing career and personal life through the use of archive footage, re-enactments and interviews with his friends and family. Would anyone have any personal memories of seeing Rinty fight or funny antidotes about Rinty that they would like to share on camera? I am making this documentary not only to share the fascinating story of one of Belfast's greatest boxers to a younger generation but also to capture the stories about Rinty and Belfast during that era as if they are not documented now, they may be lost forever.

If anyone is willing to involved in the making of this documentary, please get in touch

    Thanks

Delighted to hear of this. Best of luck to you and I hope you get all the help you require.

My only contribution is hearing when I was a youngster that Rinty's 'roadwork' used to consist of running through ploughed fields wearing Army boots. Plus the very well-known singing 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling' into the microphone from the ring after his bouts.

He must be one of the longest-reigning champs in history - long even after his death!
