What does this cog do? (timing belt change)

    Hi all,


    I know the camshaft cog needs to be in sync with the crankshaft, but there is a cog to the right of the crankshaft (as we look at the pic) and i dont know what its for.....

    on a diesel this would be the fuel pump, however this is a little 1.1 petrol engine. Can anyone help me out with some knowledge please?
