I heard from someone on the internet that AGD Systems had plans to use Shannon Airport as a transatlantic base for their fleet of Tristars that they are acquiring from the RAF.

Does anyone have anything more on this? It seems likely, but I want to make sure. I am a huge Tristar fanatic

Never heard of this AGD Systems outfit before, anybody know anything about them or what their plans are...?
There can't be too many airworthy Tristars left, it would be a mammoth task to keep these things flying, there could be huge difficulties sourcing spares, licensed crews (maintenance and flight) not to mention keeping up with continued airworthiness, CPCP, ageing A/C maintenance programs, ADs and whole host of other difficulties probably not even envisaged....

If it's the same company that used to be AeroGroup ( I believe it is ), they used to provide aggressor training at Cold Lake, Canada, using Skyhawks and Hunters. They've been around a few decades and seem to specialise in eeking life out of older, retired types for military support contracts.

Edit: they also operated ex-Dutch F-16Bs for NATO training contracts, the only commercial F-16s in the World. So they'll probably give the TriStars a fair go.
