Freehub Body

I've been having a lot if issues with my rear Zonda wheel (shimnao freehub). Indexing in the middle of the cassette is poor. Drivetrain is very noisy. I've brought the bike to a couple of local shops and got no real joy but the last shop told me that the freehub body was a little worn and might be causing the issues.

Today I put on the old wheel I have and everything is running perfectly!!

There is only 2,500 km on that wheel. Surely the freehub body should last a lot longer than that but I'm assuming there is no warranty with it so I'm going to have to buy a new one and get someone to fit it.

Is there only one specific type of freehub body that will fit the wheel? LBS are saying the cost of a new one will be about €100ish. That's fine if that's the cost but I need to know can one be bought for cheaper? Can i just buy a 105 or Ultegra 11 spd freehub body or is there a particular one I need for the Campy wheel? Is €100 a fair price and how much should labour for this cost?

about €80 online is the price for a fulcrum freehub that will do the job ..
    http://www.wiggle.com/fulcrum-shimanosram-freehub-body-1/

    priced here in the css
has to be a fulcrum or campy hub..
    https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=74036

    however...
youd Want to have done a lot of mileage to wear it out..so id imagine its something else...
are all the washers/spacers in place in the hub body?
i think the bearings are replaceable which would be cheaper..

The freehub body isn't serviceable unfortunately from what I read.

All washers / spacers are in place. There is play in the cassette though. Tbh the wheel hasn't been right from the off but it's only the last 6 weeks or so that it's really begun to pee me off.

First lbs I brought it too a few weeks ago said there was too much play in the cassette and said I'd probably need to replace the freehub body. They were too keen to go and order one though so I said I'd leave it a while. Week before last, after finally giving up on getting the indexing 100%, I brought it to another shop on the way home from work. They said the same about too much cassette play and that the freehub body probably needed to be replaced!

The wheel still works but the drivetrain is too noisy and feels rough. I've my older stock wheel on now and it's much smoother than the Zonda.

There are no alternative freehubs for Zondas other than the campag - fulcrum manufactured ones.

I have used many sets of campag wheels that use these same freehubs and have always found them (hub, axle, bearings and freehub) to be very reliable and hard wearing.

I have a spare used 11 speed Shimano freehub and if you live anywhere near me am happy for you to try it in your rear wheel - will at least help you determine if the freehub is the problem or not. It is a five minute job to change the freehub.

Will fulcrum specific freehubs work on campagnolo wheels ?

There are two versions* - one for the 9 mm axle wheels (low end / khasmins, ventos, fulcrum 5 and 7) and one for 17 mm axle models (higher end / from campag Zondas to hyperons and fulcrum 3s to zeros).

The only difference between the fulcrum and campag models is the box they come in.

    * of course you also have a choice between campag v Shimano / SRAM compatible models.

Thanks for the offer. I don't suppose you're in the Mayo/Galway area?! I will ask a lbs to try this anyway I think. Or find someone local with a spare freehub.

Unfortunately I'm in South Dublin / North Wicklow. If you knew someone else with a set of fulcrums (3, 1 or 0) or similar campag wheels it would be worth a try.
