So have I. Could anyone confirm that this will work with my Ferguson Ariva FTA box, please?

Buying recertified hard drives is as safe as buying recertified pants.

Bulls**t:(. That hdd is the best on the market, so recertified is not going to make it any worse:rolleyes:.

Funny logic, but: suit yourself - I don't care

Got the same recertified MyBook a few months back from the same site, except it's the 3TB version - and was only €65.99!

Maybe true with just a disk where the original defect will certainly have been a disk fault. WD don't currently offer any component HDD's as part of their recertified line, just consumer products with HDD's installed.

If they don't recertifiy failed or returned HDD's, why would they recertifiy a failed or returned consumer product where a HDD is faulty except maybe replacing the HDD as part of the refurbishment? HDD's aren't particularly serviceable items at the best of times.

Chances are if a component failed, it was replaced, or firmware was reflashed, or some cosmetic defect was touched up or even just ignored. It's unlikely that anything more complex was done.

And yes I do have a recertified 4GB MyCloud which has been faultless and no I don't rely solely on it without backup.

There are a few mentions of it in this thread, and the link in the 3rd post may help

That's what I was talking about. They are returned for a reason, they may be repaired AND there is only 6 months warranty against 3 years - also for a reason. I do care more about my files than about an extra 15 or 20 quids when buying new product. I'm NOT stopping you from buying these product - do whatever you like if you think it's worth it. I'm not really concerned about someones else's files, why would I?
