Which Mega Man WiiU VC game to pick?

I'm not a big fan of mega man, could never get into the first or second one (kinda no idea how it's played tbh).

But reading up on the Legacy Collection there and how it's not coming to the WiiU (would love a boxed version just to have) I thought I'd ask you guys on here since there are SO many Mega Man games on the WiiU VC.

Which one would you recommend for a beginner to ease me into the franchise? And why?

Thanks for any help guys, I really wanna give Mega Man a good go.

I just bought the two collections for the PS2 of the Megaman and Megaman X series.
They are NTSC only, so you'll need a region free console but they are pretty good primers, despite what Retr0 says!
You could go full authentic and get them for the Famicom, a plan I will fulfill when I own everything else I want!

Haha ok, that's great but I'm just taking about the mega men's in the WiiU vc, any particle one you'd highly recommend?

Megaman 2 would seem a prime place to begin your adventure :)

And what about the fancier gba games on the vc?

Megaman 2 or 3 would be the best to start with. Both are considered the best in the series by fans. I'd favour Megaman 2, it's probably my favourite NES game ever and also it has that soundtrack! Megaman X is the best of the X series. It's a bit more complex than the NES games but looks better so might be a bit more accessible.

The GBA megaman games are RPGs and not true Megaman games. The other ones are the Megaman Zero games. They are totally awesome but also possibly some of the toughest games ever made and therefore not a good place to start. They make Dark Souls seem like Sonic the Hedgehog!

Steer clear of the old Gamecube megaman collection. The emulation is pish, they removed content from most of the games and swapped the position of the a and b buttons making it a pain in the ass with anyone used to a proper control scheme.

I'd actually say wait for the legacy collection. Frank Cifaldi and his crew apparently have done an abslutely stellar job of emulating the games and collecting loads of extras and goodies as well as adding remixed modes.

I've heard of the legacy collection coming. Would love it on the WiiU but I might go for the 3ds version.

Have the graphics been updated or is this new collection just in HD and that's it? It is just Megaman 1 through to 6? I saw a copy on some website last week for the 3ds at £60, what's that about?

It's just Megaman 1-6. The graphics haven't been touched and thank god they haven't, they still look great. It's the original NES games with very accurate emulation and loads of extra features and bonus content. I doubt that it will be 60 sterling, Frank Cifaldi in an interview said it will be priced at 15 dollars. Might be a bit more as a physical copy on 3DS but I'd still say it will be priced as a budget game and that price is just a placeholder, there's no 60 sterling 3DS games.
